Traditional Muay Thai is one of the oldest martial arts and is believed to have originated and developed in the kingdom of Siam a few thousand years ago. It flourished during the period of Muay Kard Chiek, where opponents are allowed to use any technique they wished. In fact it is a martial art used by elite generals and warriors who were close to the royal family.
Created in ancient battlefields, when warriors machontousan with guns, swords, swords, etc. The techniques and principles have been tested over time and had as objectives:
1. The brawl to end the fastest and safest way.
2. To pay the lowest possible energy.
3. Ensure that your opponent will suffer if not entirely, at least to some extent.
Today in modern Muay Thai, things are totally different, boxers exchanging painful kicks and punches to entertain the crowd and often seriously injured.
Traditional Muay As a basic principle that before learning how to hurt your opponent, learn first how to protect yourself.
The games are held every week at Lumpinee Stadium, and at other stages of Thailand, far from the authentic art of Muay Thai.
The actual ancient art of Muay includes all shocks, grips (not just clinch), reversals, breaks, wrestling ground, static fighting - each with its own infinite variations. Also boxers do not wear gloves, but use either their bare hands or their fists wrapped in rope.
In modern Muay Thai, one can prepare for 6-8 months at a local gym learning basic defenses and kicks and then you can get actively compete. But those who deal with the ancient authentic Muay Thai, should spend at least 2-3 years of preparation before being admitted as true disciples. This happens for two reasons:
1. To test the patience and diligence of the student and
2. Ensure that the student has fully understood perfectly the footsteps of ancient Muay Thai, which have no resemblance to the modern Muay Thai.
- The modern Muay Thai has grown longer in sport and deviates considerably from the original system.
- To learn the martial art can take anywhere from a few years or his life. Everything depends on the talent and determination of the student. A student may be asked only after trainer has learned quite the gaits and the weapons of the body to have acquired, and this usually requires 1-2 years of education.
- The beauty of Muay Thai is that it can be as complex or simple one wants to be and this is not a matter of age.
- Traditional Muay Thai focuses on self-defense, so students are trained to defend themselves from injury.
- Moreover it can be applied to fight with their hands against weapons, and has locking and throwing techniques, which may seem particularly helpful to women and children.
- In 1922 the Thai government wanted to develop the Muay Thai and established as an international style boxing set rules, boxers wear gloves, do not allow for twists, locks, breaks, the throws and wrestling ground. Thus fell the characteristics of authentic Muay Thai to come now to the simplest form of the most competitive Muay Thai.
